Focus working from home

An office gives the day edges: you arrive, you leave, someone sees you working. At home those edges don't exist. FocusSea is a free tool for remote workers and freelancers: it measures the hours that actually count, puts a real person next to you on video while you work, and turns projects into goals with a real deadline.

Runs in the browser, nothing to install. An account is only needed if you want to join a coworking slot.

The problem, plainly

Home doesn't separate work from life

The living room is the office, the kitchen is the break, the sofa is the meeting. Nobody walks past your desk, so nobody notices that you stopped twenty minutes ago. And there's the part that rarely gets said out loud: if you work alone, you have no colleagues. Nobody sitting next to you who, just by being there, keeps you on task.

The usual result is a very long day with very few real hours inside it, plus the difficulty of saying "I'm done" when the office never closes, because the office is your house.

Virtual coworking

A colleague, for twenty-five minutes

It's the digital version of a very old thing: working next to someone. It's called body doubling, and for people working from home alone it's often the one thing that restarts a stalled morning.

Free for up to three sessions a week. The slot calendar is visible without signing up: an account is only needed once you actually enter a slot, because there's a real person on the other side. You need to be 18.

How many hours did you actually work today?

FocusSea doesn't count hours spent at the desk: it counts weighted hours. At the end of every session you rate your focus from 1 to 10, and the time is weighted accordingly: minutes × focus / 10. If you're a freelancer this is probably the most concrete argument on this page, because it's the difference between quality billable hours and hours scattered across notifications and half-finished things.

4.8 h
weighted hours, the time that actually counts

In the app you don't estimate this number: it comes out of every logged session on its own, and becomes your daily and weekly target.

Work mode

Projects and goals, not exams

FocusSea was also built for students, but it has a Work mode that changes the whole frame: Exams become Goals (projects, sprints, certifications, deliveries) and the Gradebook becomes Projects — averages weighted by hours, not university credits, so a 60-hour project carries the weight it deserves next to a 5-hour one.

The rest of the day is a 25/50/75 minute timer, 7 ambient sounds, a yearly heatmap and focus-by-time-of-day stats — all already in the app, no need to explain it twice here.

The first step is a coworking session

The calendar is visible without signing up. If you'd rather start solo, you can walk in right now as a guest, with no account and no email.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to turn my camera on in coworking?

No. The camera is recommended, because it's what makes the other person's presence feel real, but it isn't required. Calls are never recorded, in any case.

What if nobody is there at my slot time?

After 75 seconds of waiting, a session starts with a virtual companion, openly declared as an avatar. It exists so the session you planned doesn't fall through: the ritual (goal said out loud, 25 minutes, closing) stays the same.

Do I need an account to try it?

Not for the timer, the sounds, the goals and the statistics: you come in as a guest and use all of it. Only for entering a coworking slot, where a real person is on the other side. The calendar and the number of people online stay visible without signing up.
